Busy Lizzie!

 

In this post, I’m excited to share the Busy Lizzie project – a whimsical cabinet that adds a splash of colour and personality to any room. The design of this piece has been carefully thought out to create a playful and enchanting atmosphere.

 On one side of the cabinet, I’ve painted a large, vibrant Busy Lizzie flower drawing attention and creating a striking focal point. 

On the other side, I’ve opted for a more delicate, miniature version of the Busy Lizzie flowers, which are attached to a graceful branch that weaves across the surface. This branch doesn’t just stop there – it also serves as the drawer knob for the little drawer at the side of the cabinet.

 

The knob is an artistic feature in its own right, adorned with leaves and flowers, adding a fairy tale touch to the overall design.

To enhance the magic of the cabinet, I added freestyle machine-embroidered leaves and flowers to the branch. This embroidery adds texture and depth, creating a tactile experience that’s just as beautiful as it is eye-catching. The branch also flows across the cabinet, continuing in an optical illusion that stretches to the other side of the piece, giving it a sense of seamless continuity.

Inside the cabinet, I’ve painted the shelves a warm, sunny yellow, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere. Little flowers are painted on the inside, picking up where the branch leaves off, tying the entire design together in a delightful, whimsical way.

This cabinet is not only a functional piece of furniture, but also a work of art that draws the eye and adds a unique charm to any space. With its two very different sides – one bold and vibrant, the other soft and detailed – it’s sure to be a conversation starter and a lovely addition to your home.
