About MissesTree Designs

Hello and welcome,
I am Jolanda, owner at MissesTreeDesigns. I am a UK based artist, living in the English countryside. The name of my shop is inspired by my Dutch surname which means tall tree and the fact that I love to work with wood and like to create fairy tale furniture by adding branches to some of my furniture.
Creating art furniture and folding screens, means that I can use all the skills I have gained at Art School and the Furniture and Upholstery College in Amsterdam.

I come from a creative background where clothes and furniture were homemade. Making and creating are in my blood, it is a way of life, and I love the making and creative process and I am a true believer of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
The furniture in my shop is upcycled where the history of the older pieces is respected, and the furniture is not fully restored like a new piece you would buy in the shop. The history of the furniture makes it a unique piece. Especially when you work with treasured heirlooms, some of the marks on the furniture can tell a story or be a sweet memory. Some of the furniture has a fairy tale touch with branches which creates a symbiosis between the tree and the furniture. The little flowers and leaves are made with the freestyle machine embroidery technique.
I love creating folding screens/room dividers. They have something magical for me and make me feel in my own little world during the process of creating them. As they are pretty big, once they are finished they can create a world. of their own inside a larger space. You can make your own little reading nook using one of the screens. As the screens are painted on both sides, and are usually slightly different on both sides, they can also make a partition wall in your open plan living room and hide your messy kitchen, or your home office. They are functional pieces of art, as one of my buyers described her purchase.

Recently, I’ve begun creating a special series of paintings on circular canvases, where each piece unfolds as a visual story told across three connected works. These “triptych circles” capture moments of transformation—like a flower opening into full bloom or a bird growing from egg to adulthood. Explore the paintings section to see how these circular stories come to life.
I am open for commissions and would love to work together with you and looking forward to create something beautiful together. Get in touch today!
